With the Conservative Party fractured, Reform is poised to consolidate support from the remaining right-wing Tories, while others may drift toward Labour, the Greens, or fade into political irrelevance alongside what remains of a once-principled Conservative movement.

First Past the Post

To become an MP, a candidate only needs to get more votes than anyone else in their constituency — not a majority. This makes First Past the Post particularly tough for parties like Reform and the Greens, whose supporters are spread thinly across many areas, but not concentrated enough in one place to win seats.

On the other hand, some parties only run candidates in certain parts of the UK. Even with fewer total votes, their support is often concentrated in specific constituencies, giving them a better chance of winning MPs. In Westminster’s First Past the Post system, where your votes are can matter more than how many you have.
